(Cushing, Okla.)  This isn’t the first rodeo for rodeo queen contestant Heather Taylor.  The 17-year-old Drumright senior said she has competed in several rodeo queen pageants – including Cushing’s in 2011.  “They are a lot of fun,” Heather said.  “But they also get me out of my comfort zone with the speeches and molding.  I feel like it betters me as a person, improves my horsemanship and sportsmanship.”

Heather said she has been riding horses her entire life and is very active in FFA, showing beef cattle, pigs, goats and chickens.  In the arena, she enjoys running barrels and roping.

Heather’s future plans included attending Conners State College where she would like to be on the rodeo team and has a goal of becoming a veterinarian.

“I really like to help my dad shoe horses,” she said.  “And I enjoy going out to doctor cattle in the pasture.”

Heather is the daughter of Jim Taylor and Jeannie Taylor and has one sister, April.
