Robert Irvin Owens, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at his home in Cushing at the age of 58.  Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Ok.  Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.  Visitation is Friday, July 3, 2009 from 12 – 8 p.m.

 

Robert was born on March 20, 1951 in Cushing to the late John Jenkins and Vivian (Farris) Owens Sr.  He grew up in Cushing and was a graduate of Cushing High School -Class of 1969.

Robert worked in the Oilfield Cementing business for a number of years.  He has been employed as an American Petroleum Institute certified inspector for nearly 20 years.    He was an active member of the Elk’s.  Robert enjoyed his antique tractor collection, was an avid O.U. Football Fan and Nascar Racing Fan.  Robert loved spending time with his family, especially his children.  Robert married Joanna Molloy on April 14, 1978 in Cushing.

 

Robert is survived by his sons John Owens and wife Phylicia of Bixby, Cliff Owens of Coffeyville, Ks., daughter Bobbi Owens of Sapulpa, step-children Gina Harper of Sapulpa and James “Shorty” Molloy of Glenpool, brothers Ed Owens and wife Michelle of Ramona, Ok.,

John Owens Jr. of Cushing, grandchildren Aiidan Owens, Lukas Owens, Faith Merideth, Joshua Parker, Kody Molloy and Gage Harper.

 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clifford Owens and niece Tamara Owens.
