(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Ripley man with two prior misdemeanor drunk driving convictions was charged today with drunk driving as a felony on July 11 in a case investigated by Cushing police.

Robert Charles Hammock, 42, remains free on $5,000 bail pending an Aug. 4 court appearance on his charge, which carries a maximum penalty of a five-year prison term on conviction.

Seven years ago, Hammock was placed on probation for two misdemeanor drunk driving charges and a felony methamphetamine charge, all occurring in Payne County in 2006, court records show.

For drunk driving on Aug. 31, 2006, at 104th and Brushcreek Road, Hammock was placed on probation for one year.

For drunk driving and speeding at 93 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone on US 177 on March 30, 2006, Hammock was placed on probation for one year with an order to attend a victim impact panel and pay $650 in fines.

For possessing methamphetamine on Feb. 25, 2006, Hammock was placed on three years’ probation in 2007 — with an order to enroll in and successfully complete the Payne County Drug Court program.

Hammock was also ordered to pay $1,400 in fines and assessments, along with performing 150 hours of community service, court records show.
