Richard Ausbrook, retired mechanic, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 in Tulsa at the age of 80 years.

The son of the late Virgil Ausbrook and Eula Spradlin Ausbrook, Richard was born on February 18, 1929 in Oilton, OK and was reared and educated in the Oilton community.

Richard had worked for Arco Oil and Gas for many years prior to his retirement and following his retirement he started a small engine repair shop at his home and for several years had taught small engine repair at Central Vo-Tech.

Richard was an avid bird hunter; he enjoyed and had a reputation of being a real good dog trainer; he enjoyed fishing, playing black jack and drinking coffee and visiting with everyone at the Homestead Restaurant. He was also known for his good gardens that he would produce and distribute to his friends and neighbors at no charge.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo of the home; his children, Greg Ausbrook of Mountain Home, TX, Jerry Ausbrook of Kokomo, IN, and Jenny Buster of Rose, OK; two step-sons, James Jelinek of Midwest City, OK and Frank Jelinek of Houston, TX; one sister Anna Mae of Enid, OK; one brother Lewis Ausbrook and his wife Meridith of Mannford, OK; his grandchildren, Melanie Flores and her husband Johnny, Maggie Clifford and her husband David, Robbie Carroll and his wife Liza Jane, Ruth Ausbrook and Jerred Ausbrook and his wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Storm Fox, Zoe Flores, Britany Carroll, Courtney Carroll, Shelby Carroll, Gracie Carroll, Doug Carroll, Zoey Ausbrook and Lily Ausbrook; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Bill and Dale Ausbrook and one sister Sybil Markam.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 2 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Oilton with Reverend Dave Middleton of Mannford, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oilton Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers will be Willard Waldridge, Jim Buster, Robert Carroll, Preston Lay, Rick McDaniels and Bob McFarland.

Masonic graveside rites will be held at the cemetery by the Drumright Masonic Lodge #468.
