Rhonda Lynn Hogsett, a longtime Ripley resident, passed away at her home on Friday evening with her family by her side at the age of 45. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Mehan Union Church in Ripley. Rev. Larry Eslinger will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Ripley. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Rhonda was born on June 6, 1969 in Gallup, New Mexico to Harry and Leota (Stiles) Shay. She grew up in Ripley, graduating from Ripley High School in 1987. Rhonda lived in Georgia for about six years before moving back to Ripley. She worked as a correctional officer in Georgia, Cushing and Tulsa for a number of years. Rhonda later worked in the D.A.’s Office then most recently as a social worker for ONHL Hospice in Drumright. She enjoyed spending time on the beach and was fascinated with Light Houses. Rhonda loved to talk and was a huge O.S.U. fan. She loved playing with her grandbaby as well as her great nieces and nephews.

Rhonda is survived by her sons Tyler Shay Hogsett and Amanda Cates of Perkins, Austin Hogsett of Ripley, mother Leota Shay of Ripley, brother Rusty Shay and wife Evelyn of Ripley, sister Deaunna Thomas and husband Steve of Cushing, grandmother Goldie Stiles of Ripley, granddaughter Kinsliegh Cates-Lynch, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandfather.
