Rex Leon Pack, a Drumright resident, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 in Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years.
Memorial services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Church of God, Cushing with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating.
Rex was born on July 3, 1926 in Yale, Oklahoma to the late Frank and Bessie (Malone) Pack. He was proud of his service with the 11th Airborne infantry division of the Army during WWII, where he raised the first flag over Japanese territory under the order of General McArthur. After the war he married the love of his life, Bettye Jean Clemons in Drumright on April 17, 1947. The couple made their home in Cushing, and later in 1976 moved to Drumright. Rex worked for Gibble Oil Company and later Hadson Trucking in Stroud. He loved fishing and woodwork and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rex is survived by his two sons, Ronald Pack and wife Sheryl of Fallbrook, CA, and Dan Pack and his wife Cheryl of Traunik, MI; two daughters, Sherr McKinney-Avers and her husband Mike of Cushing, and Cathy Stephens and her husband Rick of Shelbyville; best buddy and nephew Fred Troxell, twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death his wife Bettye on July 20, 2002, granddaughters, Karen Emerson and Mary Sheryl Pack, great-granddaughter Bethany Lauren Emerson, four sisters, Mae, Maxine, Dorothy, and Delphia, and four brothers, Carl, George, Dale, and Dick.
