(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Wilmington, N.C., man avoided a trial before a Payne County jury this week, which could have given him as much as a 20-year prison term, by pleading guilty to his third drunk driving charge in Stillwater, this time at 900 N. Perkins Road on June 11, 2017 – three months after he was placed on probation for two aggravated drunk driving charges.
On his release from a five-year prison term, Tim Martin Jenrette, 66, will be on probation for five years, Payne County Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler ordered last week. Jenrette must also pay $1,660 in fines and assessments.
In his latest case on which he has been jailed on $25,000 bond for the past 10 months, Jenrette admitted drunk driving a 1998 Chevrolet with a 2017 Texas license plate on a suspended license, the latter charge a misdemeanor for which he was given a concurrent one-year jail term last week.
Three months before that arrest, Jenrette had pleaded guilty to aggravated drunk driving a 2006 Ford with a 2017 Tennessee license plate on Jan. 15, 2017, at 6th and Monroe Streets in Stillwater, with a blood alcohol of .27, which is more than three times the level for DUI. Jenrette also pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license.
At the same time, Jenrette had pleaded guilty to aggravated drunk driving a 2006 Ford with a 2017 Tennessee license plate on Jan. 6, 2017, on Highway 51 and Fairgrounds Road in rural Stillwater, with a blood alcohol level of .19, which is ore than two times the level for DUI. Jenrette also pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license.
In both of his aggravated drunk driving cases, Jenrette had been given a five-year suspended sentence, except 60 days in jail with credit for time served, court records show. For both of his driving on a suspended sentence misdemeanor counts, Jenrette had been given a one-year suspended sentence except 60 days in jail with credit for time served.
Two months ago, Kistler revoked the balance of his sentences in those two aggravated drunk driving cases, which will run concurrently to his five-year prison term that he was given last week for his third drunk driving case in Stillwater.
