(Cushing, Okla.) Donkey basketball…is there really such a thing? Yes! Real donkeys are being brought all the way from Wisconsin to the Cushing for a fun, family Relay for Life event, May 7, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cushing Middle School gym.  Further more, real Cushing citizens are going to ride the donkeys and play basketball at the same time!

Deep Rock School’s and Cushing Hub’s Relay for Life teams are partnering together to host the donkey basketball game.  Advance tickets are $8 and tickets will be available at the door for $10.  All proceeds are going to Cushing/Drumright Relay for Life event.

There will be four teams consisting of local pastors and local businessmen, local teachers and coaches, Cushing High School students, and Cushing firefighters and police.  To give you a hint about some of the team members…you might see former fire chief Brent Kerr, former police chief Terry Brannon, First Free Will Baptist Church pastor, James Coffelt, First Baptist Church pastor, Keith Moore and their music minister, Ken Austin, Sunnyside’s P.E. teacher, Coach Gent, Cushing Middle School’s basketball coach, Melanie Berlowitz, high school football player, Tyler Watkins, and last but not least, high school football coach, Barrett Shoop.  Of course there will be lots of others, too!  Each team will play two eight minute halves, and the champions from each game will play in a championship game.

The first 125 children 12 and under who buy tickets are guaranteed a donkey ride at intermission prior to the championship game.
