Media release
(Oklahoma City, Nov 11, 2025) –The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will distribute emergency food boxes and produce during a drive-thru distribution event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 in the parking lot of Santa Fe South High School at Plaza Mayor, 6921 Plaza Mayor Blvd.
The event is open to any Oklahoman impacted by the longest federal government shutdown in United States history and the first ever lapse in funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Oklahomans who wish to attend are asked to fill out this form ahead of time.
“We know many Oklahomans are facing an immediate crisis as SNAP benefits have been disrupted and multiple paychecks have been missed for federal workers. This is a community-wide effort to make sure families have food on the table at this uncertain time,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank.
During the distribution, the Regional Food Bank will hand out food boxes full of staple food items as well as several pounds of fresh produce for each participant.
“Even after the government reopens, the effects of a shutdown don’t disappear overnight, Dykstra said. “Families who missed paychecks or saw SNAP benefits interrupted will continue to feel the strain for weeks, even months, and need the support of our community.”
The Regional Food Bank continues to monitor the situation across its network and may provide additional distributions in rural areas, if needed. Food assistance is available throughout the Regional Food Bank’s network of partners across central and western Oklahoma. More details will be released about the distribution in the coming days. Visit rfbo.org to learn more about the work of the Regional Food Bank.
