Raymond Roy Ryan, 85 passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Raymond was born the son of Claude James Ryan and Clemmie Mae (Lewis) Ryan on November 28, 1923 in Yale, Oklahoma. Raymond was educated in the Yale area and graduated from Yale High School in 1942. He faithfully served in the United States Army in WWII from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. After his tour of duty he returned to the Yale/Cushing area and married Thelma Faye (Ricks) on April 21, 1946 in Cushing, Oklahoma. The couple moved Ponca City in 1959.

Raymond was employed with Great Lakes Pipeline and as a mail carrier until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as working on his farm in Cushing, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Church of Christ since 1948 serving as an elder.

He is survived by his children, Marsha Rae Wilson and husband, Don of Nashville, Tennessee, Pamela Kay Hawthorn and husband, Chris of Cushing, Oklahoma and Ronald Eugene Ryan and wife, Ramona of Ponca City, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boss and Clemmie Ryan; wife, Thelma; and two brothers, Dale Ryan and Tillman Ryan.

Casket bearers for the service will be Jim Anderson, Jim Iraggi, Don Wilson, Christopher Hawthorn, Ron Ryan and Dave Chisolm.

Honorary casket bearers will be Earl Isenberg, John Garroutte, Frank Magness, John Cox, Wayne Bass, Rex Ryan, Andrew Ryan and Chris Hawthorn.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ with Don Huddleston officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma with Wendyl Heffington officiating.
