Raymond Henry Rist, Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 in Tulsa, at the age of 85 years.
The son of the late Earl Rist and Edna O’Leary Rist, Raymond was born on November 19, 1925 in Maramec. He graduated from Quay High School after serving time in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was united in marriage to Wynnona Simpson on June 4, 1949 in Cushing. To this union four children, Wesley, James, Joanne and Joyce were born. The couple returned to Cushing in 1992, having lived in Newkirk for several years.
He worked as an oil field pumper beginning with Glen Gillispie & Sons of Cushing. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. During retirement, he loved painting pictures and was proud of his Martin Bird Houses.
He was a member of the Sim-R-On Sams Camping Club and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of over 61 years, Wynnona, of the home; one son, Wesley Rist and his wife Laura of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Joanne Taylor of Cushing and Joyce Harwick and her husband Mel of Kewanna, Indiana; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Dennis and her husband Kenneth of Yale, Dorothy Bell and her husband Bill of Maramec and Betty Wise and her husband Robert of Maramec and other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by one son, James Rist; one grandson, Jeffery Taylor and son-in-law, James Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Brother Keith Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Maramec Cemetery.
Visitation for Raymond will be held on Wednesday from 9 – 8, Thursday from 4-6 and Friday 9 until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
