Raymond E. Cantrell, a Yale resident for over 27 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in the Cushing Regional Hospital, Cushing, OK at the age of 50 years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, OK. Memorial services are to be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 7th 2010 at the Church of Christ in Glencoe, OK.
The son of Lewis Allen Cantrell and Norma Ruth (Lee) Cantrell, Raymond was born on May 2, 1960 in Modesto, CA. He was reared and educated in the Coyle and Ripley area. He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics with an Aviation and Maintenance Technician with Helicopter specialty degree in 1990. After graduation he worked at Stambaugh Aviation in Brunswick, GA. Later Raymond worked as a temporary electrician in the Physical Plant at Oklahoma State University.
Raymond was a loving father to his three daughters that he loved more than anything in the world; they will truly miss him more than words can say. Raymond endured a great deal after his gun accident in 1996; he had undergone approximately 25 reconstructive plastic surgeries and had sustained a significant brain injury after a motor cycle wreck in 1997. Then in April 2009 he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which had spread to the liver and eventually to a brain tumor.
The family deeply appreciates the loving care he received during the past year and a half from the staff at the Cancer Care Associates of Stillwater, OK as well as the staff at the Cushing Regional Hospital during his last few days.
Raymond was a man with a sense of humor about nearly everything in life; he was stubborn to a fault, and one of the strongest men this world has ever seen. Those who knew him will forever miss his presence, but can take peace in knowing that he no longer has to suffer the pain of this world.
Survivors include his three daughter, Dolci Cantrell of Stillwater, Aubrey Cantrell and Rebecca Cantrell, both of Yale, OK; his former wife, best friend and mother to their three beautiful daughters, Susan Cantrell of Yale, OK; father, Lewis Allen Cantrell of Stillwater, OK; three brothers, Jimmy Cantrell of Enid, OK, Don Cantrell and his wife Dana of Glencoe, OK and Roy Cantrell and his wife Kim of Stillwater, OK.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Norma “Ruth”, and one brother, Randy Cantrell.
