Ralph L. Cranke, Jr., retired state highway employee, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at his home in Cushing at the age of 78 years.
    The son of the late Raphael Lewis Cranke and Pearl I. Williams Cranke, Ralph was born on December 28, 1930 in Cushing and was reared and educated in this area.
    He was united in marriage to Patsy Faye Neighbors on December 18, 1953 in Cushing, establishing their first home here, later living in Pond Creek, Enid and Medford, before returning to Cushing in 1991.  Patsy preceded him in death on December 31, 1993.
    Ralph had worked for the State of Oklahoma highway department for over 30 years prior to his retirement.  He was baptized into the Cushing Church of the First Born and he was an avid driver, spending many hours driving the highway.
    Survivors  Alma Carpenter and her husband Paul, of Florida, Ena M. (Mike) Gafford  of Montgomery, AL; James Cranke of Tulsa, Pattie Howard and her husband Don of Ponca City and Dennis McConnel and his wife Mae of Choctaw; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, April Elaine Cranke; and one sister Ruth Porter.
    Services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Frank Taxton officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery.
