(Cushing, Okla.) Cushing police are urging citizens to be aware and mindful of people who may call you and ask for banking information, ones date of birth, or social security number. Since scams are continually on the rise, it is best not to give out this information for any reason over the telephone.
“This afternoon (Tuesday, Jan. 31st) one of our senior residents fell victim to a caller and gave out their banking information and other personal information,” Deputy Chief Tully Folden said. “Fortunately, the senior citizen told a relative what had happened, and they intervened immediately,” Folden said. “The best thing you can do when someone calls and asks for banking or personal information is to hang up.”
