(Cushing, Okla.) Cushing Police Department has reported numerous mistaken calls to the 911 call center. Apparently, callers thought they were dialing 918 and dialed 911 instead.
The mistaken calls seem to have a direct correlation to the 10-digit dialing that went into effect last Saturday. Cushing Police advised to “Always beware before you dial. If you are just one digit off, it could cause you to misdial and mistakenly call 911.”
If you do misdial and reach the 911 call center, they ask that you remain on the line and explain to the dispatcher that it was a mistake.
