(Stillwater, Okla.) – A 65-year-old Perkins woman, who was placed on probation three months ago for possessing marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute in Payne County, has been ordered to appear in court on Sept. 25 in that 2017 case, as well as a charge filed this month of having delivered cocaine on two occasions in 2015 to an undercover agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
Roberta E. Buchanan remains free on $10,000 total bail on all of her charges for which she could be given as much as three life prison terms if convicted.
In her Aug. 1, 2017, case, Buchanan pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute and failing to operate her pickup truck in a single lane on Highway 33 at Hackleman Road, court records show.
Three months ago, Buchanan was placed on 10 years’ probation, which the prosecution is now seeking to revoke due to her June 21 arrest for allegedly possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, court records show.
As a condition of probation, Buchanan was ordered to have random drug tests, mental health treatment, a substance abuse evaluation, and any recommended treatment, along with paying $1,935 plus court costs and performing 100 hours of community service.
According to an affidavit by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Ryan Long, who stopped her pickup at about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2017, for failing to maintain her lane four different times, “Buchanan stated that she had gone to Oklahoma City and paid approximately $500 for all of the contraband that was found.”
In another drug case that was filed earlier this month, Buchanan was charged with having delivered cocaine twice in 2015, on Sept. 22 and Sept. 30, to an undercover agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics at a carport at her rural Perkins residence in the 9800 block of S. Rose Road.
On Sept. 22, 2015, “Buchanan stated she does not like to mess with the ‘evil twins,’” which the OBN agent said he later learned meant methamphetamine, and that “she prefers to deal with stuff that is better for the kids (cocaine)”, the affidavit alleged.
The agent claimed that Buchanan sold him cocaine for $200 on that first transaction, the affidavit alleged.
On Sept. 30, 2015, the agent claimed that Buchanan sold him more cocaine for $400, also at the carport at her rural Perkins residence, the affidavit alleged.
Buchanan “began explaining how she likes to have her cocaine as pure as possible, and that when she made her last trip (to OKC to purchase from a guy, who is rich and owns a bunch of night clubs) that his daughter was the one that met her at a hotel because he moved into a nice neighborhood near a church and couldn’t sell from his house anymore, so they go to a hotel, and shorted her three grams accidentally,” the affidavit alleged.
“I told Buchanan that my girl and nine of her friends were taking a trip to Las Vegas and I would like to get three grams each and asked if she could handle that. Buchanan explained to me that an ounce is 28 grams and depending on the purity, etc. would determine cost, but that she thought it would be around $1,500. Buchanan asked when I needed it and I told her I thought they were leaving next Thursday and she said that she would work on it,” the agent alleged in his affidavit.
After the agent allegedly paid $400 for two baggies of cocaine, Buchanan asked how he was going to carry it, the affidavit said.
“I told her in my pocket or somewhere in my truck. Buchanan said she would get me a bottle to help hide the scene from drug-sniffing dogs,” the undercover agent alleged in his affidavit.
