(Stillwater) — A Perkins man has pleaded no contest to exposing himself while driving on Highway 177 and on a busy street in Stillwater in separate incidents three days apart.

Michael Edwin Nelson, 34, remains free on $12,500 bail pending his sentencing in both cases on April 23 before Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler.

Nelson was originally scheduled to have a jury trial on March 16, but he avoided that by entering no contest pleas to both charges on Feb. 26, court records show.

Nelson was accused of wearing no pants and exposing himself while fondling his genitals while he was driving on Halloween of 2008 on Highway 177, where another driver, a woman from Perkins, and her two juvenile passengers, saw him and were offended, court records show.

Nelson was also accused of fondling himself while he was driving at McElroy and Perkins Road in Stillwater, where another woman said she saw him on Oct. 28, 2008, and was offended, court records show.

Each charge of indecent exposure is a felony punishable by as much as a 10-year prison term and a $20,000 fine, court records show.
