(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Perkins man has been freed on $5,000 bond on four counts of knowingly concealing stolen property in Stillwater with two unnamed juveniles — along with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
John Thomas Sebree IV, 22, could be given a 30-year prison term and a $3,000 fine if convicted of all six felony counts on which he was ordered to appear in court on July 7.
With a 17-year-old boy and girl, Sebree allegedly possessed a radar detector and cell phone stolen from a Stillwater man; an Oklahoma Access card stolen from a Stillwater woman; two checks payable to “Athletes in Action” stolen from a Stillwater man; and an Arvest bank card and $11 in cash stolen from a Stillwater woman.
Sebree allegedly contributed to the delinquency of a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy by acting together with them to come into possession of stolen property, according to the charge.
Sebree and the two juveniles were arrested at 2:32 a.m. on May 22, according to an affidavit by Stillwater Police Officer Bryan Luginbill.
About 20 minutes earlier, Luginbill and Stillwater Police Officer Chris Houston had been sent to the Reserve apartment parking lot on N. Perkins Road on a report of three individuals looking in windows of vehicles on the north side of the complex, an affidavit said.
“I observed two male subjects walking along the parked vehicles and then a white female that had been with the male subjects continued walking south down the main driving area passing my location,” Luginbill wrote in his affidavit.
“I requested an additional officer respond and Sgt. Duncan arrived and located this female subject near a pickup,” Luginbill wrote in his affidavit.
The officer saw the 17-year-old boy attempt to open several doors of parked cars on both the driver’s and passenger’s side, the affidavit alleged.
Sebree appeared to be looking into cars and watching the area as the 17-year-old boy continued lifting door handles, the affidavit alleged. Both appeared startled when they saw the officer, the affidavit said.
Stillwater Police Sgt. David Duncan found that the 17-year-old girl had a GPS unit, which she said the 17-year-old boy had given her, he affidavit alleged.
“Sgt. Duncan discovered numerous items that were later determined to be stolen inside the cab and open bed area of her pickup,” the affidavit alleged.
The 17-year-old girl said she had dropped Sebree and the 17-year-old boy off by The Strip before she parked at McDonald’s and sat in her pickup for a long time while she waited for their return, the affidavit alleged.
“When they returned, they placed the items inside her pickup,” the affidavit alleged.
“Officer Calloway was in the process of taking a larceny from vehicle report that occurred in the bank parking lot near The Strip.
“This victim reported a radar detector having one suction cup on the mount, a six-pack of beer missing one bottle, a cell phone and other alcoholic beverages stolen from inside his vehicle,” all of which were found in the cab and bed of the 17-year-old girl’s pickup, the affidavit alleged.
“Officer Calloway transported this victim to our location where the victim positively identified the items as being stolen from inside his parked vehicle,” Luginbill alleged in his affidavit.
In addition to the six-count felony, Sebree also has been charged with trespassing onto a Perkins man’s property on April 18 after being forbidden.
If convicted of that misdemeanor, Sebree could be jailed for 30 days to six months and fined $50 to $500, court records show.
