(Cushing, Okla)  – A Perkins Couple was killed and two other people were injured Friday evening in a traffic mishap East of Cushing on State Highway 33.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the accident occurred at 5:16 PM at the intersection of SH 33 & 99.

The victims have been identified as Jennifer Schad, 26 of Perkins,
and her husband, Matthew Schad, 25 of Perkins.  The child was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa via air ambulance for observation.

Injured were Piper Schad, the couple’s one year old daughter, and  Austin Elmore, 18, of Bristow.

The child was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa for observation, while Elmore was taken via ambulance, while Elmore was taken to Hillcrest Hospital Cushing with head, leg and arm injuries. He was treated and released.

The Highway Patrol says that a car driven by Jennifer Schad failed to yield at the stop sign at the highway intersection and struck the vehicle driven by Elmore.  The couple were pronounced dead at the scene, and were pinned in their vehicle for two hours.

The OHP says airbags in both vehicles deployed,  and that seat belts were not in use in the car driven by Schad.  A child restraint was in use.
