(Stillwater) – Payne County Commissioners will meet in a special session Friday Morning to consider enacting a county wide burn ban. District 1 Commissioner Bill Deering says he will not be in attendance at the meeting, which he says will likely be very short. Deering says county governments now have the authority to enact a burn ban, and several counties have already done so, including Logan, Lincoln and Noble Counties.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service says that unseasonably warm conditions, high winds and abundant dry vegetation are combining to make the potential for wildfires extremely high. Conditions are expected to improve by early evening, but may worsen again Friday with more warm temperatures and high winds forecast.
