(Stillwater) — OSU football player Brandon Pettigrew is due in Payne County District Court today on a charge of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer after an incident early Sunday morning. Pettigrew was jailed after police were called to a Stillwater residence involving an altercation. Police say there were 10-15 people involved in the incident.
According to police, the group was asked to disperse, but Pettigrew allegedly refused to leave, and allegedly elbowed a Stillwater Police officer.
Pettigrew was booked into the Stillwater City Jail, then transfered to the Payne County Jail. He was released about 10:00 AM Sunday Morning.
Pettigrew announced last week he would return to OSU for his senior season instead of making himself available for the NFL draft. Pettigrew caught 35 passes last season, four for touchdowns.
OSU Head coach Mike Gundy was out of town on a recruiting trip, and unavailable for comment.
