Oscar Franklin Benton, 87, of Cushing, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 28, 2011. He was born on Dec. 22, 1923 in Cushing to Samuel J. and Ivy Francis (Miller) Benton .
Services are pending under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
Oscar grew up in Cushing and was a graduate of Cushing High School. He was a ticket taker at the Paramount Theater and served in the U.S.A.F. from 1943 until 1963. During WWII, Korea and the Cold War, he was in the Military Police. When Oscar retired in 1963, he returned back to Cushing. He loved fishing, frog gigging, squirrel hunting and playing dominoes.
Oscar was a very kind, compassionate, generous man who will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Harvey Benton, Jr. Benton and Jimmy Benton. Sisters; Viola Stephens, Billie Ann Benton, Ida Ruth Dorle, Bertha Mae Benton, Jackie Benton, Marie Benton and Rita Benton. A Special Niece-Geneva Freeman and special nephew Jay Freeman also preceded him in death.
Oscar is survived by Son and Daughter-In-Law Franklin and Kathy Benton of Colorado, Daughter-Sherri Benton of Texas. 2 Grandsons, 1 Granddaughter, a great-niece and caretaker Kim Collier and husband Shawn, several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
