It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. We couldn’t agree more. This is a photo of creative ‘live theatre’ marketing as it was in Downtown Cushing in the early 1950’s. This photo shows local resident Jerry Cooper (and Bill Deering’s duck) wearing signs informing people that – ‘I’m on my way to the Spudnut Shop’ which was located at 211 N. Cleveland in downtown Cushing. (The sign on the duck’s back says ‘Me Too’.) Others remember a real, live seal in a water filled stock tank on the sidewalk advertising ‘Allen Seals Photography Studio’ on N. Harrison where Beau Monde is now located. And of course there were elephant rides on West Broadway…..
