Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducts firearms training at the newly opened Cushing Police Firearms Training Facility.

Despite Wednesday’s bitter cold conditions, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Lieutenant Jeff James, held firearms training for members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at the newly opened Cushing Police Department Firearms Facility.

Deputy Chief Tully Folden said, “It was nice to welcome the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to Cushing, so they could experience what our City has done for law enforcement here in Cushing. When an agency is allowed to train, it will always serve the greater good for everyone we serve.”

According to Police Chief Terry Brannon, the police department will open the firearms training facility to the general public this Saturday, December 12, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Citizens desiring to come to the training facility need to call the police department at (918) 225-1212 to reserve a time slot. Major Tully will be on hand tomorrow (Saturday) to assist citizens with the proper and safe handling of their firearms.
