(Bristow)- An oilfield explosion north of Bristow has killed one worker and injured three others. The explosion occured at a well site in Creek County in the area just north of State Highway 66 near 201st Street.
Creek County Sheriffs Deputy Mike Carter told KUSH that the explosion happened about 10:00 AM this morning when oil and gas ignited while a crew worked on a well site. The cause of the explosion is unknown. A workover rig appears was badly damaged according to Carter, who could not release the name of the victims.
The fire was extinguished by the Bristow fire deparment. One person was flown by helicopter to a Tulsa Hospital, another was transported by ambulance, and a third was taken by a private vehicle to a hospital prior to the deputy’s arrival on the scene.
According to Carter, the crew involved in the mishap was from JNC Casing of Cushing.
