(Cushing, Okla.) Intertek, a petroleum testing laboratory, opened its doors for business today, Monday, March 21, 2011. According to Branch Manager Kevin Gilbert, over two years of research went into the decision to build in Cushing. “After talking to people in the oil industry and the fact Cushing is known as the Pipeline Crossroads of the World, Intertek decided to invest $1million to serve the oil companies in this area,” Gilbert said.
The 3200 square foot petroleum testing lab boasts state-of-the-art analytical equipment and is located at 804 E. North Street in Cushing. Currently there are only three employees – Gilbert, who transferred from Houston, and two people who were hired from the community. Intertek is expected to hire two more employees in the future.
Intertek is known around the world for its testing, inspecting and certification of products. “We test everything,” Gilbert said.
Gilbert was the special guest speaker at Rotary Club last Thursday. He and his wife have a son who is 1 1/2 years old. “We are excited to be in Cushing.”
