(Cushing, Okla.)  Cushing will be celebrating the annual National Day of Prayer a little differently this year – a prayer bus will travel to seven different locations throughout the city to pray for the centers of power.

National Day of Prayer event chair, Denise Kinzie, said the bus tour is similar to what has been done on a national level.  In 2013 the National Day of Prayer bus tour traveled to 33 states over a period of 100 days praying in 412 communities.  There will be another bus tour this year.

“I thought it would be something different,” Kinzie said.  “Everyone is busy – this gives people the opportunity to select one or all of the stops to join us in prayer.”

The National Day of Prayer Bus will lead the way to the following stops to pray for the seven center of power: Government, Church, Military, Family, Education, Media and Business

8:00 a.m. – Cushing City Hall (Government)

8:15 a.m. – NE Corner of Moses & Noble Streets (Church)

8:30 a.m. – American Legion Hut, 214 S. Noble Street (Military)

8:50 a.m. – Cushing Memorial Park/Aquatic Center (Family)

9:20 a.m. – Cushing Public Schools Administration Office, 1401 N. Little Ave. (School)

9:45 a.m. – Cushing Chamber of Commerce, 1301 E. Main (Media)

10:50 a.m. – Downtown Centennial Park (Business)

Kinzie said this year’s theme, “One Voice United in Prayer,” emphasizes the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to “place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men.”

To further highlight the theme, Romans 15:6 has been selected as the NDP Scripture: “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The author of this year’s prayer is Anne Graham Lotz, 2014 Honorary Chairman of NDP.  Lotz is the daughter of Billy Graham.  A recording of Lotz reading the prayer will be aired on KUSH at noon on Thursday, May 1st.

Student led prayer will be held at all Cushing’s schools Thursday morning.
