Nathaniel Franklin, age 78, a longtime Cushing area resident passed away suddenly, Monday evening, April 20, 2009, in Cushing.  His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing and a  Wake Service will be held Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with a graveside service to be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Hunter Cemetery with Brother Franklin Noah and Don Abney officiating.

                Mr. Franklin was born on September 16, 1930 in Stroud, Oklahoma and was the son of Alex and Carrie (Hunter) Franklin.  He grew up in the Hunter Home Place, attended Harmony School and later Cushing High School.  He worked in the Oilfields and then for Allied Materials.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Sac and Fox Nation, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post in Cushing.  He like to listen to music and speaking in his traditional language.

                Nathaniel is survived by a brother, Harry Franklin of Texas; a sister, Sharon Noah and husband Franklin of Cushing; numerous extended and adopted family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harrison Hunter, Shannon Franklin and Conklin Franklin.
