(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Mulhall man was charged this week with robbing a Stillwater restaurant with an imitation firearm, obstructing a Stillwater police officer, and twice burglarizing a Stillwater apartment complex.
Bail for Craig Terrel Canser, 49, who remains in the Payne County Jail, has been set at a total of $155,000 on the four charges on which he was ordered to return to court Oct. 21.
Canser was arrested on Oct. 8 as a suspect in the 5 p.m. Oct. 3. armed robbery of the Taco Mayo at 116 E. McElroy in Stillwater, in which an assault rifle was reported as having been used, a police news release said.
Stillwater Police Detective Cody Manuel developed a lead regarding the suspect’s identity, a news release said.
Detectives Manuel and Kyle Bruce located Canser as he was leaving a business in the area of Redbud and Perkins Road, the news release said.
If convicted of using an imitation firearm to rob the restaurant of $241 on Oct. 3, Canser could be given a prison sentence from five years to life, court records show.
Twenty prosecution witnesses including 11 from the Stillwater Police Department were listed in the charge filed Monday.
On Monday, Canser was also charged with breaking into the Prime Place Apartments in Stillwater on Sept. 29 and also on Sept. 12, as well as obstructing an officer on Oct. 8, court records show.
If convicted of those additional charges, Canser could be given a 14-year prison sentence, court records show.
