Mayor John Henckel made the proclamation Monday that April is “McReady Oklahoma Family Preparedness Month” in Cushing. Bob Noltensmeyer, Cushing Emergency Management, said the first thing on the agenda will be to test the sirens.
“We’ll be testing the sirens sometime next week,” Noltensmeyer said. Noltensmeyer predicted the possibility of early storms due to this year’s exceptionally mild winter.
For the past few years, Cushing Emergency Management has teamed with McDonald’s to prepare families for emergencies, to increase awareness of severe weather threats and to help build a prepared community. Diplays are set up at McDonald’s – not only in Cushing, but across the state.
