Max Brown, age 74, s longtime Oilton Barber went to his new home in Heaven, Friday evening, January 30, 2009 in Drumright, Oklahoma. His Funeral Services have been entrusted
to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Oilton, Oklahoma and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the First Church of God in Yale, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike Clark and Pastor Mark Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery at Oilton, Oklahoma.
Mr. Brown was born on August 11, 1934 in Wirth, Arkansas the son of Thomas Bert and Annie (Warren) Brown. He grew up in Thayer, Missouri where he attended and graduated from High School. Following High School he went to work for the Smelter in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He joined the U. S. Army. While in the Army he started cutting hair and after being discharged from the Army he went to Barber College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On May 21, 1956, he married Saundra Hitchcock in Oilton. Following graduation from Barber College they moved to Ponca City for a year and a half before moving to Oilton for the rest of his life. He closed his Barber Shop when he was 65 but continued to Barber out of his home. He was a member of the First Church of God in Yale, Oklahoma and he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Saundra Brown of the home in Oilton; one son, Kevin Brown and wife Sherrie of Drumright, Oklahoma; one daughter, Marla Hewitt and husband Steven of Oilton; a brother, Richard Brown and wife Vestal of Thayer, Missouri; a sister, Alpha Lee Erhardth of Tarvus, Florida; six grandchildren, Brad Hewitt, Ashley Casey, Brandi Finney, Evans Brown, Chad Brown, Lance Brown; eight great grandchildren, Ethan Brown, Chace Brown, Connor Hewitt, Kylie Hewitt, Charleigh Hewitt, Cailin Casey, Cambri Casey and Blaze Finney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant great granddaughter, Rayleigh.
Those who wish may make memorials to the Drumright Regional Hospital in Drumright, Oklahoma in his memory. Contributions may be made either direct or through the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
