She was born July 18, 1932 in Agra, Ok to Henry and Ethel (Jackson) Brown. She graduated from Cushing High in 1950 and went to work for the telephone company as an operator in the days when switchboards were used. She married Earnie Penrod, the love of her life, on May 11, 1952. This union brought two children: Carlotta and Jimmie. She was a member of The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was very good at it. She made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower gardening, she definitely had a green thumb. Over the years she worked as a Tupperware representative, a seamstress and sales representative for Jolley’s Tuxedo and a teacher’s aide at Kiddie College. Most of all she loved her family and was so happy when we were all together.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Ethel Brown; four sisters: Esther Collyar, Hattie Hausner, Helen Brown and Rosemary Buckles; two brothers: Charlie Brown and Leon Brown; and a son-in-law Don Carey.
Survivors are her husband Earnie of home, a daughter Carlotta Carey of Atoka, OK; a son Jimmie Penrod and wife Patti of Farmington, NM; one grandson Eric Carey and wife Jamie of Tushka, OK; two granddaughters Kristi Barnes and husband Donald of McAlester, OK and Sara Jiron and husband Joshua of Phoenix, AZ. Six great-grandchildren: Ty Brewster, Sekret Henry, Whisper Carey, Tuff Carey, Daniel Barnes, Katrina Barnes. Many relatives and friends.
