Marietta Kay Adkins, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Cushing, OK at the age of 64 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, OK.
The daughter of the late Claude E. Spurgin and Joyce (Eikenbary) Spurgin, Marietta was born on October 21, 1946 in Great Bend, KS. She was reared and educated in Cushing, graduating in 1964. Marietta was united in marriage to Butch Adkins on July 3, 1968 in Illinois. They lived briefly in Ponca City, OK before moving back to Cushing in 1973.
Marietta enjoyed watching old western movies and spending time with her dogs, Little Girl, Scrapper, Zeke, and Sissy Mae.
Marietta is survived by three daughters, Melonie Smith and her husband Alan of Cushing, Cara Robison and her husband Clayton of Cushing, and Shawna Shipman and her husband Jerry of Cleveland, OK; three sisters, her twin Loretta Tuttle of Cushing, Dreama Moore and her husband Larry of Cushing, and Stacey Tollette of Cushing; seven grandchildren, Robyn Smith, Ashlea Smith, Emily Smith, Sadie Robison, Kale Robison, Brooklynn Shipman, and Sydney Shipman; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marietta was preceded in death by her husband Butch.
