(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 41-year-old man, who pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse of a teenaged relative in Perkins in 2022, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Garrett Merrill Robbins of Azle, Tex. was also given a concurrent 10-year prison term for lewd acts on the youth, who has a severe medical condition.
When Robbins finishes his prison term, he will be on probation for 10 years under sex offender rules, District Judge Phillip Corley ruled at his March 22 sentencing.
Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Daryn Zanfardino said on June 28, 2023, “I was made aware that Garrett Robbins was in Stillwater Police Department’s interview room when he confessed to Criminal Investigations Division Sgt. Sherae LeJeune about a series of sexual assaults that he had committed,” on the youth in Perkins, an affidavit said.
“Garrett stated during the interview that he was watching pornography,” prior to one incident, the deputy’s affidavit said.
“Garrett advised me and Sgt. LeJeune that he knew what he was doing was wrong and that he was embarrassed by the acts that he had committed,” the deputy wrote in his affidavit.
“Garrett also informed Sgt. LeJeune that he was concerned about some of the pornography that he had been watching because he believed that some of the videos that he watched consisted of men raping children,” the affidavit said.
