STILLWATER — A 20-year-old Oklahoma City man accused of threatening a Stillwater woman with scissors and using a knife to stab three of her car’s tires has been ordered to appear in court June 1 on a two-count felony charge.
She said that Rico DeJuan Wilson “has ‘hit on her’ before, but she had always turned him down and had never been in any sort of relationship with him,” an affidavit alleged. Two days after his arrest, Wilson was freed on $75,000 bond with an order to have no contact with the woman.
If convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious injury to property, Wilson could be imprisoned for as long as 12 years, court records show.
Stillwater Police Officer Christopher Boren was sent at about 7:30 am on Jan. 5 to a disturbance call at an apartment complex on Perkins Road on a report that a man “had parked a black Dodge Ram pickup behind her, not allowing her to leave and was holding a pair of scissors attempting to get into her car,” his affidavit alleged.
“As other officers and I were arriving on scene, dispatch advised the reporting party had said the male had slashed several of her tires and had gotten into his pickup and was leaving. We were able to stop the vehicle just east of the entrance/exit to the apartment complex.
“I exited my vehicle and pulled out my service weapon to provide lethal cover as Officer Cassidy gave commands to the driver, who was placed into investigatory detention without incident. I moved from the suspect vehicle to contact the victim. I immediately observed the driver’s side rear tire was flat sitting on the rim.
“I could hear the sound of air still escaping from the tire and observed a slash or cut to the tire. I contacted a female sitting in the driver’s seat of the Malibu. The female was shaking, crying and obviously very shook up by the incident.
“She told me that she had just returned to her apartment and had not gotten out of her vehicle yet; she saw Rico Wilson had gotten out of his truck. She said he was yelling something, and something about Rico’s demeanor made her lock her doors. She said he re-entered his vehicle and pulled the truck up behind her vehicle so she could not leave.
“She said he then exited his truck and approached her driver’s side door. She said he was yelling about wanting to talk to her and telling her to open the door. She said he was pulling her door handle the whole time and produced a pair of scissors. She said he continued holding the scissors yelling and hitting her window.
“She said that once he realized he wasn’t getting in the vehicle, he walked to her driver’s side rear tire and attempted to stab it with the scissors. She said he couldn’t get it to stab through the tire. She said he then produced a knife and stabbed the tire. She said he then moved to the rear passenger side tire and stabbed it. He then moved up to the passenger front tire and stabbed it also before getting back into his vehicle and leaving.
“She said that while she was sitting in the car with him yelling, attempting to get in the vehicle and attacking the vehicle, she was fearful and believed if he got into the vehicle he would attack her. I asked her how she knew the male. She said she didn’t; she just sees him around. She explained that they have mutual friends in Oklahoma City, and she sees him at group gatherings,” but has never been in a relationship with him.
After taking photos of damage to the tires, “I called Officer Cassidy and informed him what I had. Officer Cassidy placed Rico under arrest for me and transported him to the city jail. Officer Cassidy informed me that he recovered the scissors on the arrestee but not a knife,” Officer Boren alleged in his affidavit.
