(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 21-year-old man from El Reno accused of sexually assaulting and choking an Oklahoma State University student in her dorm room in Stillwater six days after they met on the phone application Tinder has been ordered to appear in court on Nov. 4 when he can seek a preliminary hearing on a four-count Payne County charge.
If convicted of two counts of digital rape plus one count each of sexual battery and domestic assault and battery by strangulation on Sept. 16, Wyatt Brady Mehan could be given two sentences of life in prison without parole plus 13 years. Mehan remains free on $50,000 cash bail with an order to have no contact with her, court records show.
After Mehan left her apartment, her roommate arrived and “saw the bruises on her body, and she determined she thought they should take (her) to the emergency department,” where a nurse reported she “had sustained numerous bruises and injuries” consistent with sexual assault, an affidavit alleged.
During the attack, the student said, “Mehan began talking about his previous relationship with his ex-girlfriend,” and said “he was imagining his ex-girlfriend’s face on (her) body,” OSU Police Officer Jacob M. Abad alleged in an affidavit.
Asked if Mehan had contacted her since the assault occurred, she said he had not, the affidavit alleged. She said, “At the end, he kinda made a comment like, ‘You probably don’t want me to come back over,’ or something like that,” the affidavit alleged.
She said, “from the time Mehan left her apartment to the time she went to the hospital was approximately 30 to 45 minutes,” the affidavit alleged.
During an interview two days after the incident, the OSU officer asked, “if she had thought more about attaining an emergency protective order or moving apartments since we last spoke. She stated she was unsure and stated, ‘If I didn’t do anything with this, I would be okay, and he wouldn’t do this to me again. Umm, but I mean if I did press charges, he would be upset, and I feel like he would come after me.’
“I asked (her) if Mehan had threatened her in any other way, and she stated Mehan told her, ‘I’ll come back and kill you.’ (She) did not know if he threatened her regarding his embarrassment…or if he was referring to her telling anyone about the injuries he inflicted on her,” the OSU officer alleged in his affidavit.
“I asked (her) how long she thought the entire interaction with Mehan lasted, and she stated she believed between 30 to 45 minutes. I asked (her) how long into the interaction did she realize it was not a ‘normal’ sexual interaction, and she said approximately 10 minutes.
“Mehan asked (her) if she liked it when he was biting her, and she told him no. (She) said, ‘He just kept doing it’ while referring to Mehan biting her,” the OSU officer alleged in his affidavit.
Asked to describe how hard she was being strangled, she said, ‘My face was getting really hot, and I couldn’t breathe.’ She said she had difficulty remembering the timeline of everything occurring, and she could only remember certain specific incidents,” the affidavit alleged.
A week later, she obtained an emergency protective order against Mehan, court records show. In her petition, she alleged that Mehan raped, bit, hit open-handed, and strangled her. She alleged Mehan “threatened to come back and kill,” her if she reported it. She alleged that he “also drew blood and refused to stop with digital penetration.”
