(Cushing, Okla.)  Cushing Chamber of Commerce members welcomed their newest Chamber member – Roma’s Italian Restaurant – with a ribbon cutting on Thursday.

Evan Roma has added Cushing to his list of family-owned restaurants.  “I have five others,” Roma said in his best Italian accent.

Just like the Italian food he prepares fresh each day, Roma’s accent is the real thing.  “My family comes from Rome,” he said.  “I was born in Milan, but I’ve spent almost half of my life in America.”

Roma said he came to America in 1999 and opened his first restaurant in 2004.  “Roma’s is a family-owned business – my family owns 24.”

Roma said it was his friendship with a Cushing police officer that led him to Cushing.  “He told me I should check it out – he missed my food,” he said with a grin.

Evan Roma takes pride in making each dish fresh.  “We make our own pastas and use fresh ingredients,” he said.  “We don’t make it until you order it.”

Roma’s Italian Restaurant, located at 2320 E. Main in Cushing, is open  11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.  Menu items include a variety of pasta dishes, appetizers, sandwiches, pizza, salads and desserts.  Wine and beer will be available in the near future.  Call 918-225-0272 to place an order.
