Twin-Mounds 4-H club members had a field trip to the KUSH radio station on Thursday, September 22. The kids were there to record various public service announcements to promote National 4-H month in October. They were given a tour of the station as well as the history of the business by Sean Kelly, owner. For most of the kids, this was their first exposure to a radio station and how it operates. Although they missed out on meeting the infamous Donna and Molly duo, they are excited to know that they will be able to hear themselves on the radio during the month of October.
The Twin-Mounds club as well as other Payne County 4-H clubs will be out promoting 4-H during October. The motto of 4-H is to make the best BETTER. In addition to teaching hands-on skills to young people, 4-H also teaches how to make decisions, to be active citizens, to set individual goals and to develop values. It is a uniquely designed program where both youth and adults of the community can work together. During the month, you may find a 4-H member at your front door asking for donations of non-perishable food items for a local food bank or working with other programs to help the community. 4-H, always making the best BETTER!
