(Cushing) — The Cushing Fire Department was called to a major grassfire Saturday just before noon, and minutes later, other fireghters were being called to assist. Answering the Call were Drumright, Yale and Agra firefighters.
The blaze appearted to have started in the area near Grandstaff and Harmony Road just Northeast of Cushing, and due to high winds spread quickly northward. Within and hour the fire had spread a mile north to Deep Rock Road. Although no structures appeared to have been damaged, several were threatened, and firefighters had to concentrate on saving the structures as the fire spread.
The blaze was contained about 2:30 Saturday afternoon. No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
