(Cushing) – Ron Frantz, architect with the Oklahoma Main Street Center spent last Monday in Cushing viewing progress and opportunities in Downtown Cushing. Frantz toured David and Myra Reid’s new upper story condo on Moses street, and several other locations with members of the Design committee before conducting a design overview at Faith Church at 217 E. Broadway. Pastor Jeff Craig and daughter Katy opened the church to the group and assisted with the powerpoint presentation. Frantz showed before/after downtown project photos from many communities across the state. The audience was impressed by how a little paint and volunteer labor can make such a big difference in the look a community presents to the public.

Downtown Cushing Main Street Director Rick Reiley also made a brief photo presentation from a ‘hard hat ‘ construction tour he took of a similar sized town in New Jersey during the National Main Street conference earlier this month.

After a late lunch Frantz toured another two properties giving some preliminary advice on the look and use of the property.

In addition to those mentioned other participants included Steve and Kelly Dilley, Lynda Cummings, Connie Liebenau, Rose Callen and Debbie Moody.

Lynda Cummings, is chair of the Design committee and is always interested in welcoming new members on board. All it takes is interest in our downtown community and a little time to volunteer. For more information call the Main Street office at 225-2100.
