Mable Stafford, age 87, of Stillwater, passed away, Wednesday morning, March 18, 2009 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Cushing. Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Stafford was born on October 18, 1921 in Hockerville, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Charles and Ollie (Henderson) Carr. She formerly lived in Yale, Mannford, California, Cushing and the last five years with her daughter in Stillwater. She was a homemaker, loved life and people. She especially loved to visit with her friends and will be remembered by many as “Granny Mable.” She loved to sit by the window and watch the birds and squirrels eat and play in the yard. She would go out every chance to see the trees and flowers.

Mable was united in marriage to Samuel “Pete” Flagor on January 15, 1940 in Yale and later was united in marriage to Leo S. Stafford on July 18, 1969 in Ponca City. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1979.

Mable is survived by her children, Barbara and C. R. Mesnier, Gail and Barbara Flagor, Linda and Gary Carnes, Brenda and Frank Graven; eleven grandchildren, Robert Hyle, Sam and Holly Flagor, Jaime and Jason Sharp, Charles Gambill, James Gambill, Joshua Harmon, LenNel Quick, Richard and Janna Buntin, Darrin Buntin and Chrissy West, Jonas and Tina Carnes, Kandi and Denny Johnson; twenty-two great grandchildren, Austin, Sarah, Dylan, Loralie and Emma Flagor, Taylor Sharp, Jared, Victoria, Kiri and Anna Harmon, Brett, Leslie and Matthew Buntin, Jennifer, Chelsie, Cassandra, Ian, Trey, Eli and Sevennah Buntin, Ashli and Nic Johnson; two brothers, Charles Carr and Del Ray Carr; many nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo S. Stafford, daughter Alice Flagor, brother, James Carr, sister, Beulah Stafford and a great grandchild Luke Lemire.

The Stafford family requests that memorial contributions be made to Judith Karman Hospice or to the American Heart Association in Mable’s name.
