The Plans for the “Love thy Neighbor” kick-off are coming together. Chalk Artist Richard Hight will be in the spotlight on Friday Night August 22 at the “Love Thy Neighbor” Kick-off event in Whitlock Park in Drumright. Hight is an internationally renowned inspirational keynote speaker who uses the fine arts to creatively communicate positive, life-changing messages. The lights go down, inspirational music comes up and everyone is captivated. “It’s funny to watch people with their mouths open, it happens every time! Richard then brings the picture to life.”

“Love thy Neighbor 08” is the 24 hour local mission project co-sponsored by area churches and businesses. Rather than organizing an overseas mission trip, Cynthia Bassham decided to plan one for Drumright and the surrounding communities. The dates are August 22 and 23. In addition to Richard Hight, the kick-off at Whitlock on Friday night Aug. 22 (from 6 -9 p.m.) will also include: Characterature Drawings by Phylicia Mendenhall, Face Painting by Kylie Garner, Finger Nail Art by Nicole Morgan, the vocal group, “Inheritance” will perform as well as Jojo the Clown. Area churches are coordinating and sponsoring free hot dogs, treats and entertainment. The Inflatable Fun, games and activities will also be free.

Several area businesses are offering free or reduced cost services on Saturday the Aug. 23 as part of the “Love thy Neighbor 08” event. Cynthia said “I want to encourage everyone to demonstrate an act of kindness on this day.” A list of services will be published the week before the event. If you would like to donate, help or offer a service, please call Cynthia Bassham at 918-223-5798. Find out more about Artist Richard Hight at his website
