Louise Swadley, age 103 a longtime Oilton resident, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Drumright Nursing Home, Drumright, Ok.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. , Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Oilton Christ Fellowship Church , Oilton, Ok. Brother Gary Krlin and Brother Bill Ryan will officiate.
Interment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence , Kansas .
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
Louise Swadley was born on March 27, 1906 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Frank and Della (Long) Cole. She grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. Louise worked at a Flour Mill as a phone receptionist for a few years. She enjoyed taking piano lessons, while taking lessons, she met the love of her life, Henry D. Swadley. They were married on January 1, 1928 in Lawrence , Kansas . During the war, they moved to Wichita, Kansas . They were active members of the First Church of God. She loved to play the piano, organ, French Harp and harmonica at the church. Louise also was the Church greeter and visited numerous folks attending the church. Louise was an avid crocheter, crocheting towels for many while living at the nursing home. She spent most of her time taking care of her family. Louise liked to roller skate up unto her seventies. She moved to Oilton to be near her daughter and family. Louise became a member of Oilton Christ Fellowship Church.
Louise is survived by her son Robert D. Swadley and wife Kay of Marshall, Tx., daughters Martha Stacy of Wichita , Ks., Barbara Wilson of Drumright, Patricia Wadsworth and husband Marvin of Independence, Ks., sister Anna Bell Carter of Dallas, Tx., grandchildren Linda Zaudke and husband James, Kathleen Slone and husband Stan, Gene Nelson and wife Rita, Connie White and husband Jim, Larry Nelson and wife Julie, Noble Wilson and wife Brenda, Jody Wilson and wife Cindy, April Rutherford and husband Roger, Tracey Wadsworth , Sam Swadley, and Tanna Cotton and husband Michael, 22 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry D. Swadley, daughter Mary Louise Nelson, brothers Richard Cole, John Cole, and Jesse, Cole, sister Clara .
