(Stillwater, Okla) — The City of Stillwater will be honoring a long-time police officer Captain Kyle Gibbs and firefighter Captain Scott Lowery for their service to the community. Captain Gibbs is retiring after 35+ years of service and Captain Lowery has served 29+ years.
Captain Gibbs’ Ceremonial Walkout will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. at the Stillwater Police Dept, 723 S. Lewis, Stillwater. All are invited to attend in-person or watch on SPD Facebook, live-stream@StillwaterPolice.
“For more than 35 years, Cpt. Gibbs has been a stronghold in our community – protecting and serving our citizens. He has left his mark as an officer, leader, communicator and innovator, and above all else, trusted friend to those he worked with daily. We appreciate his service and wish him the best in this new chapter of life,” said Police Chief Jeff Watts.
The Walk of Honor for Captain Scott Lowery will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022, beginning at 5 pm at Fire Station #1, 1506 S. Main St., Stillwater. All are invited to attend in-person or watch video later that will be shared on SFD Facebook@StwFire.
A pinning ceremony and formal acknowledgment of recruit badge for Ryan Szirmay will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10 am at Stillwater Fire Station #1, 1506 S. Main St., Stillwater.
“This week is extraordinary as we celebrate a new leader within the department and also honor another leader who dedicated his life’s work to service. Both of these men are the epitome of service above self and how to lead with courage, honor and love,” said Fire Chief Terry Essary.
