(Cushing, Okla.)  Dr. David Reinecke has made his battle against blood cancer public and is asking for people to register as bone marrow donors at Cushing’s Festival in the Park, October 12, 2013.

Dr. Reinecke has been practicing Internal Medicine in the Cushing Area since 1984.  When he is not tending to the needs of his patients, Dr. Reinecke enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening and yard work.  On September 16, 2013 Dr. Reinecke was diagnosed with AML, Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.  He has already received his first round of chemotherapy and has started his battle against blood cancer.  For many blood cancer patients, the only option for a cure is a bone marrow transplant.  Unfortunately bone marrow matches are extremely hard to find.

Only four out of 10 patients will ever receive their transplant.  You can help change those odds by registering as a bone marrow donor on October 12th at Memorial Park.  All it takes is filling out a form and swabbing your cheeks.  It is a simple act that could literally result in saving someone’s life!

Tune in to the KUSH Morning Team Friday morning, Oct. 4th, at 8:30 to hear more about bone marrow donation from Liz Moore, Utica Park Clinic, Cushing.
