(Cushing, Okla.) Jim Pickard, President of the local Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:13 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snyder. This was followed by prayer requests for local families along with prayer by Russ Thurman.
Lions Club introduced guests including Joe Manning, Chairman of the Cushing Board of Commissioners.
Announcements of club activities were made including the board meeting that was to follow the regular noon Lion’s Club meeting. The Oklahoma Lion’s Eye Bank is having an Open House on January 31 (2015) from 10:00 (am) until Noon at 3840 N. Lincoln Blvd (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma).
Today’s guest speakers were Stephen Spears – City Manager for the City of Cushing, and Terry Brannon- City Commissioner for the City of Cushing. Spears and Brannon spoke on the City of Cushing infrastructure, Police, Fire and the upcoming meeting this Thursday, January 29th, at 7 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church. (A town-hall type setting called “Cushing Conversations” where citizens can come and learn.) Commissioners Terry Brannon and Don Amon will provide information and answer questions about the upcoming vote on a ladder truck for the Cushing Fire Department and the renovation of City Hall. The special election is to be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
February 7th (2015) is the District H Convention.
Lion Buck Blake won today’s 50/50 raffle proceeds ($9.00).
The meeting adjourned around 12:48 (p.m.).
Cushing Lions Club meets each Tuesday at noon in the Lion’s Den in downtown Cushing.
