Lion of the day was club President Jim Pickard.
Guest speaker, Kevin Clouse spoke briefly to the club about his eye surgery and how having to wear such heavy glasses had affected him. He said that “kids need to see your eyes to trust you” (he is a Minister). Clouse also said he has dyslexia which is a reading difficulty (involving letter and number reversals) he then read from a Book with No Picture. He made a call out to Lions Club members for someone to read to the students. Representative Lee Denney commented she was glad Clouse had made the call out for people to read to the kids (reading and poverty go hand in hand). He ended his talk by visiting about the Peace Poster and asking what is peace? A meaning more than what the Webster definition is.
Guest speaker, Herber visited with club members about the House passing the Keystone Pipeline Bill (which may
actually be vetoed by the President ), tax code reform and immigration. February will be the month that we can start looking for things to happen.
Representative Denney told the club she had started her last term and appreciated the votes.
Today’s winner of the 50/50 drawing was Cushing Fire Department Chief Chris Pixler. Chief Pixler won $11.00 from the 50/50 drawing.
The meeting adjourned around 01:00 (p.m.).
