(Cushing, Okla.) Jim Pickard, President of the local Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:30 (pm). The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snider. This was followed by prayer requests for local families along with prayer by Rev. Kevin Clouse.

Lion Tom Cummings gave the club an update on the new Spot Vision machine progress. Stating the first Spot Vision screenings may take place within next two or three weeks and will likely be at the daycare center next to the state office.

Lions Club then introduced “Lion of the Day” Marian Gilkerson, who spoke about Glow Bowl a charity bowling event for Breast Cancer coming up on October 3 (2014), and the Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on October 21 (2014). Gilkerson then introduced today’s guest speaker Dr. Cole.

Dr. Cole is a General Surgeon here in Cushing; he grew up in southwest Oklahoma the son of a farm and rancher. From an early age he had always wanted to move to Stillwater, Oklahoma so in 1993 he did. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University (OSU). He later returned to school and completed his Medical degree after being encouraged by his wife. He has also completed his Master of Business Administration degree at OSU.

Dr. Cole says that each surgery is a step by step process and that he can take care things people need surgery for right here in Cushing!

Lion Buck Blake won $17.50 from the 50/50 drawing which brought in a total of $35. The 50/50 drawing is a one dollar per ticket drawing; where in the total amount collected from sold tickets is split between the winner “and” the Lions Club.

The meeting adjourned around 01:05 (pm).
