Linda Sue McCarty, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Oklahoma City at the age of 53 years.
The daughter of Betty Lou Fern Wood Bernard and the late Walter Otis Bernard, Linda was born on September 7, 1960 in Cushing and was raised and educated in Cushing and Sapulpa.
Linda was united in marriage to Bill McCarty on January 1, 1976 in Sherman, Texas, and to this union two daughters, Stephanie and Miranda, were born.
She was a member of the New Hope Fellowship Church. Linda had worked for Benny Vassar for over thirty years, starting at the Super Stop and later as office manager at the hardware and plumbing store.
Linda enjoyed having and going to garage sales. She will be remembered as a very generous woman that would do anything to help anyone at anytime. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Rhett.
Survivors include her husband Bill, of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Wesson and her husband Shannon of Cushing and Miranda McCarty of Cushing; her mother, Betty Bernard of the home; five grandchildren, Tyler Kelly, Kaitlynne Kelly, Alex McNeal, Joshua Kelly and Aiden McNeal; one sister, Marie Mullins and her husband Terry of Sapulpa; two brothers, Charlie Bernard and his wife Susanne of Choctaw and James Bernard and his wife Joann of Cushing; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Bernard.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the Cushing Christian Church with Pastor Steve Orton of the New Hope Fellowship Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, March 30, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Integris Transplant Center, 3300 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112, in her memory.
