Lewis Junior Shoemaker, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 05, 2014 at the Drumright Nursing Home, Drumright, Oklahoma at the age of 83.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Junior was born on November 7, 1930 to Lewis B. Shoemaker and wife Stella in Hockersville, Oklahoma. He was always greeting anyone he saw with a smile and a wave, did not know a stranger. He made his living mowing yards and helping anyone who needed him. He attended the Assembly of God Church.
In 1984, he married Linda Chain and had one son.
He is survived by his son Louis Shoemaker of Cushing and two grandchildren, Emily and Mikah Shoemaker, two step-grandchildren Danielle and Victoria Massey, brother Everett Shoemaker of Cushing and a brother Carl Shoemaker of Phoenix, Ar., daughter-in-law Monica Ceno and former wife Melinda Chain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters Anna McBride, Hazel Killian, Ruth Wells, Blanche Hooper, Pauline Shoemaker and Edna Dahlke, three brothers Robert, Roy and Ervil Shoemaker.
